From Dark Brown to Red

My hair is naturally dark brown. I have tried so many different products to get it red and it stay red that it's depressing.  Every time I color it red, it fades within a week.  I went to a beauty supply store today and bought something different. I bought a professional color by L'OREAL but it didn't come with any instruction other thatn to mix it with 2 oz developer.  Has anyone tried this? Or do you have any advice for keeping red hair?

Is it Feria professional brand by Loreal? BOY! That stuff shouldn't fade. It's one of the toughest out there to change.
