Hey everyone! I am a 1X a week blow-dry/flat-iron addict and I'm trying to give airdrying a try...the problem is the times I've tried it iso far have all been a disaster...I tried overnight and in the am I was still REALLY wet. I tried the bonnet and " as winter changed to spring..." I was still under there waiting hours for it to get dry, then was rewarded with poof-head. I suck royally at rollers and wrapping, I always get unbelievably BAD results. That why i always go back to the old faithful standbys...blow-dry/ flat iron. I could use some ideas...I'm willing to give it a try again if you can point me in the right direction. By the way I have 4a (?) relaxed hair, shoulder-length. Thanks a lot for your help.
When you airdry make sure to use a moisturizer or oil, it will keep your hair from drying out. Also you may wanna try the doing the ponytail roller method, its a good alternative to old fashion rollersetting.
Ponytail Roller Method:
The ponytail roller method is to done on damp hair preferably hair that has been freshly washed/conditioned. Apply your favorite leave-in, oil/moisturizer, then make 6-10 ponytails using ouchless elastics or whatever you prefer, then roll each ponytail onto the roller/rollers. Allow hair to completely dry for best results.
I agree with Sweet_Ambrosia. I also suggest to not go to bed with your hair wet because it will take forever for it to dry, if its like 90-95% dry then your fine but otherwise noooooo. I did that a long time ago, thinking that I would be str8 in the morning because I had to go to class and all that good stuff....once I woke up it was still wet and I was like WTH LMAO. Ohh another thing that I do is once I'm done with rinsing conditioner out and wrapping the towel around my head I leave the towel on for a while (like 30min or so) because for me it soaks up the water quite a bit then I go ahead and put my leave-in and moisturizers, sometimes wrap, roll or ponybun and let air dry. HTH
I usually wrap my hair and sit under the dryer for an hour. I hate doing it but it's better for me than blow drying and air drying is out because it takes all day and I don't have that kinda time.
The ponytail method Sweet_Ambrosia mentioned is a good one. I may have to try that one myself. Sometimes I do a method similar to that only I gather my hair up into one high ponytail and roll the ends in like 10 or so rollers. It's easier than trying to roll my whole head because I'm all thumbs when I try to do that. HTH

Regular hair oil did not help me get a good results from air drying...i used that Beyond the zone Noodle Head and it helped cut out the frizzies and dryness

Well I put my hair in a ponytail (with or without an ouchless band)and just wrapped it around into a bun like thingy and clipped it with a duckbill clip or a hairpin to stay in place. See I do things a little differently LOL

I do the same thing. I kinda describe it as doing one big bantu knot.
