QuoteReplyTopic: HELP! Bleach Blonde Hair Problems Posted: February 05 2006 at 6:36pm
Well, I've always heard the horror stories of diy hair bleaching, but I decided to try it myself anyway. My hair is normally a reddish brown, but I've bleached it with Manic Panic Flash Lightning 30 vol bleach kit, leaving me with orange hair. Is it safe to bleach it again after 24 hours, and how many times can I use bleach in order to get the desired results? Also, after bleaching it should I use a semi-permanent or permanent blonde dye to ge a particular color? If I use a different color on top of the bleached hair, does my hair have to be light yellow or can I dye my hair a blonde color during this orange stage? I would like to ultimately have a light blonde hair color (more towards platinum than orange), but I need a little help. After looking on the forums I'd love to have hair like Bambilee's (sort of ashy blonde)...Thanks for any advice
The orange is the hardest color to get out. It's likely that an ash blonde on top of it will only turn it muddy.
If your hair is in good shape, can do another bleaching, but be careful and watch your hair closely. If you notice any damage occuring, rinse out the bleach right away. It often takes more than one bleaching to get hair to the pale yellow color, which is where you want to be if you're trying to get a platinum like color. My stylist foiled in the bleach because my ends would not lighten past the orange stage in one bleaching. The foil will keep the bleach wet and hold in the warmth. Bleach that is dry and cold won't work.
I've heard a lot of people recommend Wella's Color Charm in White Lady for a platinum color. A semi-perm haircolor will fade very quickly on bleached hair. A demi-perm color is gentle, deposit only and will last longer.
If you want platinum hair, you'll want to get it to the pale yellow color before you tone it with a color.
I always toned right after bleaching, then conditioned. But, if your hair is really dry, give it a good conditioning treatment, wait 24 hours, then tone.

I bleach mine to get it as light and as yellow as I can. Then
apply an EXTRA LIGHT ASH BLONDE, in order to tone the
orange/yellow. You must use toner, you can not go blonde without
it or your hair will stay yellow/orange.
I am in canada so we are unable to get tonder due to the fact you must
have a licence to shop at a beauty supply store. So I make due with
using an ash color. I use frosting kits for bleaching and I only do my
roots now.
To get to where I am it was a LONG hard crazy road so I don't know if
two simple steps would work on everyone. But I was going from a very
dark brown to this and your a reddy brown?
