Bad Morning Hair after straightening. . .

Whenever I go out, say to a club, I will spike my hair up with straighteners. I have done this for about a year. The problem is nowadays I will wake up the next morning and my hair will be really dry and puffy, and it looks horrible. Is this because of the over use of hair straighteners?
