QuoteReplyTopic: Hair coming off ProTac Posted: February 17 2006 at 2:54pm
Does anyone else have this problem? When I was my hair, the top layer of my own hair comes off the Pro-Tac, exposing the tape. I can usually blowdry on high heat to get the glue a little sticky to re-stick my hair to the tape, but after the third was, even this doesn't work. I'm wondering if this happens to anyone else. Should I cut the strips in half and only stick to the bottom of the weft? Would this hold up over time? I hate the top part of the tape showing through.

yes...it happened to me with the top short row on each side and the top full row all the way around. I touched up the top short rows a week ago with a little LG (at 3 &1/2 weeks) and the other day (4 & 1/2 weeks) I fixed the top full row with just enough LG to hold me through til I redo.
Yes the tape shows through on my top row too. I have very thin hair and when we did this install we went too far up so now I dont have quite enough hair to "comb over" and hide the tape. Next time Im going to stack the wefts on the tape and Im not going to go up so far.
Ditto here. I've just been using lots of hairspray to make sure the top row is covered. I pretty much have to re-install every 3 weeks as the sticky stuff on the tape starts to break down.

I only use half of the tape for my top row and my small side sections. I have had no problem with the top row falling off with only taping the bottom half of my weft. Of course, I can only use one weft on the very top row.
I am on my second install with Pro-tac, and I am on week 3.5, and all is sticking great!! I even wear a ponytail everyday.
BirdofEden, try taking out just the top row and re-applying with just half of the tape (bottom of weft only, no sandwich). I bet you can get several more weeks out of your install. As for the side pieces, I have found that I do need to re-install them every 2-3 weeks and they do slip down, I think because I am playing with them more, and maybe my conditioner hits them a little bit.
Oh, one more thing that I do with my top row and side thingys, is cut the width of the tape down my 1/8-1/4 inch. I also do this with my bottom 2 rows so that when I put my hair up into a pony, the sides don't sick out too much from the width of the tape.
