In CA you do not need a  license to to hair extensions, however you do need a license to work in a salon or cut hair.

In this work, it's just part of the service to cut and blend the extensions and also many times I also color the person's hair too.  Any person who can't perform all the services to get the job done right is less than professional, just my opinion!

So, if she rents a station at a salon but does not have a license...how does that work?

Thanks again, ladies.  Looks like I'm going to fight her charges.  Will keep you posted on what happens.  I know I was mislead and cheated and just hope this never happens to anyone else that decides to use her services.

I highly appreciate all of the advice y'all have given me.  You guys are great!  I'll refer many others to this helful and friendly forum.

Take care and cross your fingers for me that justice prevails!

Hi Gator...I have been following this thread and I am very sorry to hear about all the problems you've been having.

By any chance did you pay for her services with a credit card?  If you did, you can contact your credit card company to dispute the charges in the event that this unlicensed stylist refuses to work with you.

Hey, thanks for the advice MissAllie!

I already have disputed the charges.  I just hope this stylist doesn't cheat anyone else out of their hard earned money.  To pay over $1000 for a service that is advertised on her website to last at least 6 months when my extensions barely lasted one month.

Does it make a difference if the stylist in licensed or non-licensed when it comes to the credit card company's evaluation of this matter?  I know you can be a hair extension stylist w/o a license in the state of CA...but I'm sure once the credit card company investigates this claim, they will rule in my favor.  It's obvious from my experience, unfortunately, that I have been cheated.

Thanks again for your advice, MissAllie and will keep y'all posted on what happens.

Gator
