That is what I am afraid of if I dye/bleach or highlight ever again. I straighten and blowdry my hair everyday and have for the past 3 years. I also have dyed it A LOT. I try to do this deep conditioning thing but I don't know if it is working, and I trimmed my ends but I still have some fried/damaged hair in the back. How can I make my hair healthier? And no I will not NOT get my hair highlighted in a week.

Also, I think I am addicted to straightening my hair, because I tried to stop but I couldn't.

If you keep doing what you are doing, it may indeed break off at some point, everyone's hair is different and we all have different breaking points where our hair just can't take no more.  You are doing quite a lot that is bad for it, and no deep conditioner or anything else like that is going to "heal" damage that has already been done.  I would lay off while I was ahead if you are starting to worry about this.  If you must straighten and blow dry everyday, at least lay off the dye, or if you must dye it, test strand first and try to lay off the straightening.

My hair feels kinda healthy, and I am only 16, I just have really wavy hair and it looks bad if I don't straighten it. I want to dye it and straighten it! Ahh! I wanted to try not straightening it for a week or two and maybe that will make it healthier? I also use heat protectant spray now. I don't blowdry everyday.

If you want to keep straightening, but reduce the damage to your hair, I suggest the following:

- wash your hair every three (or four, if you can leave it that long)

- use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner

- if your hair is naturally frizzy, apply a serum to help it dry straighter and smoother (e.g. John Frieda Frizz Ease)

- leave your hair to air dry

- when your hair is bone dry, apply a heat-protective spray or other other heat-protective product

- straighten your hair but move the irons down each strand quickly and don't go over the same chunk of hair more than twice

- use a natural bristle brush and always brush / comb your hair gently

- do an intensive deep conditioning treatment, like a mask or a leave-in every fortnight

- get regular trims e.g. half an inch to an inch every two to three months (depending on whether you're trying to grow your hair)

I hope this helps.  Alternatively look at magazines and experiment with products to see whether you can find non-straightened wavy or curly styles that you like so that you can take advantage of your hair's natural texture: maybe you can put your hair up when it's not straightened or something like that?  Good luck.

p.s. I would leave it a while before colouring your hair again.  Get some moisture into it first and improve its condition by cutting down on the straightener damage.  Do you use ceramic straighteners?  The Remington ones are very good and not too expensive (EUR 50 here = GBP 30 or USD 50).

Thank you I will try wearing my hair up without straightening it
