I wonder if anyone here can help me - I've been trying to find out what exactly bobby pins are made of, more specifically whether they contain any nickel, to which I've developed an allergy. I can't get a reply from the manufacturer of the only bobby pins on sale in my small town in Australia - and my research on line has led me to this forum.

If anyone knows - or can point me in the right direction to find out, I'd be hugely grateful.

Cheers

Webpages about nickel allergy state that hairpins usually contain it.  You can get a kit from your pharmacy or dermatologist to test things, but offhand I'd say its likely.  You may want to switch to small plastic claw clips or something until you get your hair to a state where you do not need to wear bobby pins.
