ok so my hair is so totally not normally greasy and out of nowhere, the past few days, after i wash and dry my hair, it feels like there's greasy and almost sticky like there's hairspray or something in it.  and it'll get like that right after i take a shower and dry it too!  i was wondering what could cause this and if anyone had any tips to get rid of it.  thanks!

that's happened to me a couple times.  i couldn't figure out where it came from either   try a clarifying shampoo like suave.  remember to pay close attention to the part that's been greasy while you're washing, and rinse your hair for several minutes when you're done

Depends on your shampoo. If your shampoo is harsh then that will increase the chances of your getting greasy hair.

Try to find a shampoo that has "Sodium Laureth Sulfate" as the second listed ingredient. Look at the first 50 words of the product's ingredient list. Avoid any product that has "ammonium" or "lauryl".

Recommendations: Suave Professionals Color Care (even if you don't color your hair), Garnier Fructis I think, and L'Oreal for Kids are both gentle. It might take awhile for your scalp to adjust and start producing less oil, if you have been using a harsh shampoo such as Pert Plus, Suave, Head and Shoulders, Finesse, Herbal Essence.

For more information, here is a thread on product selection

Did you just start using gel? I recently starting using gel, and my hair got sorta greasy whenever I got finished washing and drying it!

You hair sounds what just happened to mine! After it started getting greasy I started using Dandruff Shampoo and it helped it alot! You might want to get some of it! It's Equate Dandruff Shampoo.I hope that helped.

Great point, Lisa  Gel can have the same effect as a harsh shampoo, because many gels contain alcohols that also cause dryness... which leads to your scalp producing excess oil. If you can find a gel that is alcohol free, that's so much better

Wow and I thought I was the only one!

It's usually only greasy underneath at the back of my head and sometimes the whole section at the back. It's really frustrating how you spend forever washing your hair only to end up with these results.
