Hi,

I'm new to all of this, and I was really just wishing someone could help me. Even if someone can't ..I'd be thankful for any replies on any advice.

I've dyed my hair a lot, ...almost every color and color combination you can imagine. Anyway, point being, I used to have a really pretty light blone hair color. I dyed it brown because I was tired of it. It got really dark by mistake so I removed all the color and dyed it a light brown. ..Now I just want to completely go back to my blonde color but I'm scared of what the outcome may be.

I haven't dyed or touched up my light/medium brown hair in about 3 weeks, and let me tell you, it's brassy and looking pretty awful. I'm wondering if when I dye my hair should I remove the color I have in it now or would simply dying it be okay? The perfessionals around my area are completely overpriced and my mom does well at dying my hair anyway, so I'm completely refusing to go to a salon.  Plus I'll never forget when I went in to get a touch up once when I had blonde hair and came out with orange/yellow looking roots that cost $35.

I'm just worried I'll have that same orange hair and it will be fake looking, ..or my roots will turn out differently because my hair has grown a little bit .. and the rest is dyed. Please help.

this was my old color; http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y117/xxsharpie008xx/001_005 4.jpg

haha.. sorry for the weird picture.

Just to say you look absolutely lovely with blonde hair or the darker brown tone in your pic, so you can do whatever you want :) lucky girl.

Right, so you've removed the colour before, do you remember what was the result of that?  I'd suggest you colour remove again before you do anything else because it gets rid of that messy build up of dye.

Presumably you'll be left with blondey/orangey/browny hair like me (I'm a natural blonde but it doesn't suit me, so I'm dark now), and you may need to bleach it to get it looking even and orange-less.  This is not really one for beginners...especially if you've dyed your hair a lot in the past - there's a risk of breakage and severe damage.

Better wait for the blondies on this site to give you advice on the "going blonde" bit...they're really helpful , I wouldn't want to even try to suggest things about toning etc...

Good luck

Thanks so much for your help.  When I had my blonde hair and black tips (like in my old photo -- you just can't really see the black that much), I remember when I removed the black color from my tips, it turned my hair a red/orange color ..but I believe it may just have been because my hair was so dark. When I had dark brown hair though, not to long ago, and I removed the color to dye it a medium golden brown.. when I removed the color, my hair turned a nice pale blonde (like the blonde in my old photo) but I had just a few streaks of the red/orange in a couple certain places. They weren't noticeable though when I dyed my hair.

Since my hair is so much lighter though, hopefully I won't get any of those red/orange streaks.
