Well I'm new to this forum but i thought this would be the best place for some help and reassurence.
Anyways over about the past two weeks I've noticed my scalp has got quite dry. About two weeks ago I was very busy and didn't have time to wash my hair for maybe 4 days it got very greasy and dandruffy but this has happened before and I washed it out and my hair went back to normal. At first I just thought it was just a one off but now the flakes have been returning but not the greasyness. I have shoulder length very thick brown hair which has natural kinks.
Nothing has really changed with my hair recently. I have been using a hair iron but not every day just every few days. I have changed my shampoo but this started before I changed my shampoo. Before I was using herbal essences and now I am using Alberto Balsam which is great at cleaning my hair.
I've found that the flakes come back noticeably on the 3rd day after washing.
Last night I tried using head and shoulders to see if that would help get rid of the flakes and it has but I think it has just made my head even dryer. My hair is still shiny and healthy though. My friend has reccommeded getting a hair mask or cream to help my scalp get back to normal.
I've never had this problem before and I am really hoping its just temporary because I finally found a nice hairstyle I like.
I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what to do. I don't like using anything too fancy because I've found my hair doesn't usually respnd overy well plus I don't have much money.
P.S I hope this is the right forum to post this.

It could be just a build up of products in your hair , that is causing the problem. If the problem persists, try using t-gel for dandruff for a few days or shampoo with tea- tree oils in them , this should clear up the problem , best of luck.
Last night I washed my hair normally with my Alberto Balsam and massaged it in really well.
This morning the flakes have come back.
I'm going to look into those tea-tree oils shampoos. But until then I'm just going to have to continue using Head & Shoulders which I really don't want to use.
I have used Alberto Balsam last year and it was brilliant- so it can't be that thats causing it.
This is so annoying

Sorry to hear that the flakes have came back, does your hair look and feel dry. You may have a dry scalp, even if your hair feels in good condition. Anything could be causing the problem. I did suffer from dandruff a while ago and I used head & shoulders and I still do , and this seems to have worked for me , I use the 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunatly if you stop using the head and shoulders the dandruff does come back.

Get Aveda Scalp Benefits Balancing Shampoo. You should also get Aveda
Scalp Remedy. I used to flat iron my hair daily and my scalp was
SO incredibly dry and flaky. I got those two products and they
helped me a LOTTT. The Scalp Remedy is an "antidandruff tonic" so
you just apply it right to your scalp and it clears it all up.
I tried so many things. Head & Shoulders was one of them, and I
also thought it made everything worse. Those two Aveda products worked
wonders, however. Tea tree oil shampoo is pretty good also.
Yesterday it practically went but this morning its come back a bit. It seems to get worse overnight.
Anyways the flakes aren't as big as they were before and it seems to be settling down, I'm going to do my normal routine for another week and if it doesn't get any better I'll buy some products.
I'm also getting a new hair straightener as the one I have is very cheap and I think could not be improving the situation.
Oh I was just wondering, does dry scalp flakes get worse overnight? Mine always seem too- I wake up with loads of flakes and then during the day I barely have any.
