Fringes / Bangs

How do you create full or side fringes(bangs) ? This stylist said she used the ring/tube/loc system.  How do you create fringes without causing tension to the hair and with the hair being so fragile in the temple area ? Also how do you get the natural tresses to blend with the extensions ? I have tried to place extensions on the sides of my own hair with micro shr**k*** but when I pull them back into a ponytail you can see the extensions all along the sides of my hair. If any of you have conquered this problem your assistance would REALLY be appreciated. Thanks.
