really worried here.. im 18 and recently over the last year or so my hair growth has slowed down greatly
in fact i cut my hair spikey about 3 months ago and it hasnt grown an iota
i went to the doctor and he said as im only 18, and its not exactly genetic as everyone in my family has a full head of hair :) that its probably just a problem with my diet so i stopped eating hunhealthy food, cut out the excess caffeine and stuff like that,
started taking zinc iron copper folic acid kelp all the vitamins which are suposed to make hair grow naturally and helathy and 2 and a half monhts later still no luck its just not growing

im scared as anything this isnt hair loss its just not growing
i cant understand what is wrong as my hair was growing really fast until a year ago i dont know whats wrong as my arm and facial hair when it grows seems to be normal rate as i have to shave every day

can somebody please please help me what is wrong?
if it was the worst comes to worst that it was hair loss (which ive been asured it probably isnt) then there wud be patches but there isnt..its just not growing any more than spikey length when till a year ago it wud grow really thick and long..and hair doesnt just stop like tat especially at 18 when growth hormones are raging through the body.

in short ive tried every natural vitamin there is, ive made sure ive got a healthy diet,.... tried all the massage and lukewarm daily rinses plus still nothing.. please can somebody help me :(

thanks a lot

Are you on any medications - some have an affect on hair growth.  Is your hair healthy looking?  Dull, brittle...hair is a sign of trouble besides hair not growing - usually diet and stress are factors in this.

How is the hair growth in your family members?  Could be genetic.

Sometimes, people's hair just stops growing for awhile. My hair hasn't grown for a few months, I think. I have a friend whose hair stopped growing for a good 6-12 months. Sometimes the hair follicles like to take a rest. Don't worry about it - it will pick up again.

thanks sooo much well to be honest i started taking kelp which contain iodine and i did stop the hair nails skin tablets which werent helping

i also cut down on aspartame which i was told could cause hair problems when consumed in abudance and it does feel like its grown slightly in the last week ie it definatly feels a lot better

i was drinking on average about 6 cans of coke a day sometimes more, and i was told caffeine and asparteme can blow hair growth cells if consumed in excess of reccomeneded allowance.

how long does it take to get months of caffeine out of the system

:)

Oh no!!  You need to replace the pop habit with 8 glasses of water/day!!!!  I used to drink a lot of soda.. then moved on to a juice habit in the belief it's much healthier... but the truth is there is just so much sodium and sugar in most juice as well.

Oooh, I have an idea...  this may help for your hair growth as well as prove to be a great tasty treat :D  You can blend your own smoothie juice!  Okay, I was doing this last summer when I was living away from home...  Daily I would use something like 6 baby carrots, 1/2-1 banana, 6 strawberries... and/or raspberries... some ice and just a bit of OJ ... Put it all in a blender, simply push the button and YUM!  Perfection in a pitcher. This is soooo healthy and is most definately the best (tastiest) way to get your fruits n vegs... esp if one likes to drink sweet beverages!  Some people also add vitamins, proteins or mineral powders as well...  But I personally like to keep it fresh.

Well anyway, take care
