someone please help me. i was delusional and thought i could give myself
(and my dark brown hair) foil highlights. they're now splotchy red streaks on
my head. and i was combing it and hair is MELTING OFF!!! the really blonde
hair is so weak that it is breaking off!!! i need to fix the splotches, should i
do a demiperm (natural instincts) over it or will it make it break off more???
PLEASE HELP!!! i am going to see my boyfriend tomorrow morning!!!
how can i make it stop breaking AND fix the color? i don't want to damage it
further!!! i'm panicking!!!
Do NOT put on a demipermanent color. Do not use any products that contain peroxide or ammonia until you get control of the breakage.
Ok - so let's calm down a little bit and assess your situation. How much of your hair did you highlight? Let's look at the worst case scenario - that your hair will break off where it has been highlighted. Would that be a lot of hair on your head? Or just 8-10 sections? (If a few small sections - you may be able to disguise the breakage with the right styling products.)
In any case, you need to deep condition your hair. Find a deep conditioner with a lot of proteins, apply it to wet hair but don't rinse it yet. Wrap a warm towel around your head for 10-15 minutes. Then gently rinse with cooler water. This will help improve the condition of your hair and prevent further breakage.
Until your hair is much healthier, I think the best way to disguise the uneven color is to get one of those "color sticks" that are designed to touch up grey roots. It's temporary - so it won't damage you hair any further, but you'll have to keep up with it.
