My hair has always been on the dry side, except for the year I started puberty, especially after dying my hair. Now I`m growing out the natural color which seemed to be healthy until last week when it started getting oily. What should I do? I use Thermasilk heat activating mosturizing shampoo and conditioner since I blow dry my hair 2 a week. Did I do something wrong or could it be my hormones? Any advice would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
OK, not knowing all the specifics here, I would suggest this:
Using too much shampoo on your hair makes it feel odd. Also, if you go to bed with wet hair, that also sometimes makes it seem limp or maybe oily.
I`ve had oily hair (by my own standards) since I was at least 11 or 12. It`s gotten a little better (I`m in my late 20`s now), but I still have to shampoo every other day. I`ve found that tea tree oil shampoo, the Body Shop`s Blue Ice shampoo and Pantene Clarifying seem to work the best at keeping my hair decent looking two days in a row. You might want to try switching shampoos around-Thermasilk is a mosturizing shampoo and you may not need that ALL the time.
Interestingly, dying your hair dries it out. If you do use an oily hair shampoo, make sure you don`t over do it-for eons I had dandruff and discovered that I was drying my scalp so much it flaked...when I switched to the Pantene and tea tree, it abated.
Haircare for many of us is trial and error. My advice would be to use a regular shampoo for color treated hair on the days you don`t blow dry, and the thermasilk for when you do.
Oh and another thing-if you use any kind of smoothing products on your hair, they might also be adding to the mix.
