I'm a big fan of hers and was just getting used to the long blonde look...and liking it when I came across this.  Don't think the look will last long since it's not that great, but I had to share it.

I agree with everything you said about the new Mandy Moore-like look. Kelly no longer looks like someone to idolize.

I don't see much Mandy Moore resemblance here but I don't think this style is particularly eye catching. I was also getting used to the blonde but this cut is just a bit boring to me.
...and that's all I have to say about that.

well, at least her hair looks healthier and more natural (since it's probably close to her natural color).  i've noticed that for caucasion women darker hair tends to draw more attention to the face and flaws, but blonder hair tends to make the face and flaws less noticeable since it blends with the hair...just look at ashlee simpson and how much better her features look when she's blonde!  on kelly, her straight, limp brown hair just makes her face look pudgier...wavy hair does the exact opposite and slims the face.. i think she should stick with some curls.

In this week's US Magazine there is a picture of here with clearly cut blonde hair up to about chin length.  If I had to guess I'd say she cut it first, then went for the color/extensions to bring it to where you see in the link above.  Her face looks very chubby right now.  Neither of the haircuts work.

She looked so great in the "since U been gone" video.  She just needed to keep that look for a while.

Her hair at shoulder length and medium brown in coloration, is very ordinary looking, and I don't care for the length. It is too short to be beautiful long hair, and not short enough to be a sexy, attractive short hairstyle.

Yes that style is not the most flattering for her. I think she looks best with some curl in her hair.

I think it is way better than the blonde color, though.  That did absolutely nothing for her.  Kelly looks better as a brunette.  Give it a little time - this look is sure to improve.

Celebs can have bad hair phases too!

I actually like her with her naturally dark hair and I'm glad to see that she's returned to her "roots". It seems like every woman in Hollywood feels the need to dye their hair blonde and get a tan. They all look like clones.

Actually, Kelly's natural hair color is blonde not brown. Just thought I would point that out.
