QuoteReplyTopic: A New Color? *pics Posted: May 28 2006 at 5:16am
I'm considering changing my hair color (again!) and I was wondering what you guys thinnk. I'm normally a med ash brown, but I went blonde (shown in pic) but I think the blonde looks bad on me and I look even more washed out. What do you all think? Should I go for a light brown? I'm not sure what color would look best on me, being that I have blue eyes and fair skin (cool tones?). Any advice would be appreciated..thanks.

I like Mischa Barton's color here
...but I don't know what would look good onme? *sigh* I need some adivce guys :(
Hi Meli, Actually... I like the blonde on you more than the brown! Maybe the "yellow" tones are making you feel washed out. The Mischa Barton pic has less of a yellow tone. I'm not sure if that would be more complimentary. Have you considered holding up hair pieces (like those clip in things sold with barettes) up to your face to see what color might best compliment your skin tone?

I do my own hair, but the best thing to do is research first. Members helped me with everything I needed to know..but unfortunately I found the forum after I tried using an otc born blonde box color.= orange hair. If you live in the U.S., you can go to Sally's Beauty Supply and get bleach, toner, etc. First search the forum and themn ask for help or clarification. If your haitr is dark like mine, you'll need to bleach once, wait, bleach again, wait, and then tone. Once you get all the orange out you'll have bright yellow hair, and using a toner will help cancel out that and give you a more natural looking blonde (refer to the sticky about intro to color to see what color base toner you will need->if your hair is bleached to a yellow-orange then you'll need a purple based toner to neutralize it). Just make sure you research first, use professional products, and have a friend to help you apply the bleach. Always apply bleach on the ends of your hair first because roots process faster. So, expect orange hair first, then unnatural yellow, and then you use a toner (mixed with developer to activate) to get the blonde you want. I bleached my hair so much (since I was unexperienced) and so my hair is a little dry- expect to have to maintain your blonde color as well as use a deep conditioner once a week (get a reconstructer conditioner to help put the protein back in your hair). Also, if your hair is currently colored, remove that color (use colorfix for permanent color) and then bleach. If I could change something about my hair, I would add lowlights to create more dimension-just something you make want to consider because one color hair looks bad on me..just a thought. Feel free to start searching the boards and post a new thread with any questions-we're all here to help if we can :)

I think the color you're born with is what looks best on you. But I think with fair skin and light eyes, you could go like med brown and even red. But maybe if thats only if you have pink undertones in your skin. I THINK im olive-ish skinned and red looks real bad on me.
Keep your natural colour & have 1/2 head of blonde foils that way you get the best of both worlds as both colours seem to suit you so well. The blonde is lovely but it could be the pic but your skin appears more pinky, my skin looks the same but I am very pale blonde .
