Looking for some input on chunky highlights. Are they difficult/expensive to get? A pain to grow out or maintain? I have dark brown hair and am looking for something fun and different.

Also.. any inspiration on new styles/cuts? My hair is super long, all one length, straight, fine, but lots of it. Willing to make a major change if so inspired. :)

Shea.

Hi Shea:

Chunky hi-lights are great. They look great and dddraw alot of attention. Since your hair is a dark brown color I think a shade of red would look really good. The color red would depend on if you are a cool or a warm dark brown. Whatever your tone, cool or warm, you would need to lighten your hii-lights to at least a level 5 then recolor with the new red color.

In the salon you will pay a good price for them but I don't think you would consider them difficult to do. Maintainence would't be difficult if you don't go to light with the hi-lights.

As far a cuts go layers seem to be the rage now. Consider layering and or going to a layered chin length bob with the chunks placed right around the facial hairline. Good luck with your new look.
