I LOVE LEELEE SOBIESKI'S AND PORTIA DE ROSSI'S HAIR! DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THOSE AWESOME CURLS THAT ARE IN PORTIA DE ROSSI'S HAIR, OR THAT PRETTY SILKY-STRAIGT LOOK OF LEELEE'S LOOK?? BUT WAIT......BEFORE YOU REPLY.......

Here's some basic information before you try to help me so you can have an idea of what you are working with:

My hair is currently in a straight hairstyle, as in, I don't have any layers or anything, it's just cut evenly at the bottom. It's black, and naturally curly, but since it is so long, it weights my hair down a little and it makes it semi-curly and semi-wavy (hope you know what I am talking about). It's just mildly curly and mostly wavy. By the way, my hair goes down to my knees, and after measuring it, it is approx. 4 feet(I'm really short!).

My hair is rather thin for it's length, and it's very thin for an Asian Indian girl my age (15 years old)!

I have a round face. I have chubby cheeks, but I am not overweight, I am moderately skinny (if you are wondering why I put this in here, it is b/c it might give you a better idea of how a hairstyle might look on me).

I don't know how much I would like to spend on my hair, of course it already takes a long time to take care of it. I usually wash it every other day, since it would be too much to do it everyday.

I would like a quick updo to wear to school, but I am willing to spend more time on it in the mornings, just not over 40 minutes. I also hate taking showers in the morning, so I wouldn't want to do that, if that is needed for my hairstyle (but I don't mind doing it sometimes, just suggest it, and I might end up liking it!).

I also need a hairstyle just to wear out on the weekends. This hairstyle I can spend more time on since it would not be a school day. I am mainly looking for a quick hairstyle that is cute and stylish. I strongly prefer an updo, but I could always use more suggestions on downdo's!

I like the length of my hair, and I would like to find any possible updo (or any other cute 'do for that matter, just NOT a plain ponytail, or braids -like I usually wear them!) for the length of my hair right now, but I am *somewhat* ok with trimming my hair maybe 1-3 inches.....maybe!!! :)

Any type of hairdo will do for me. I usually like the very neat, or the slightly messy looks (the outrageous kinds I rarely like), but don't hesitate to make any suggestions that fall into any categories I particularly don't like!! I am a very open-minded person, and I love to try new things with my hair -since there is so much of it!! :)

If you would like to see a picture, please send me an e-mail and I will be able to give you a picture soon. Please try to advise me a little before you ask for the picture so that I know what kind a picture I should send you! :)

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ANSWER THIS! ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME, AND I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I HAVE HAD THIS DILEMMA FOR OVER 3 YEARS! I EVEN POSTED A MESSAGE HERE WHEN THIS WEBSITE FIRST STARTED, ABOUT THIS, BUT PLEASE TRY TO HELP ME AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! HOPE THIS IS ENOUGH INFORMATION AND IF IT ISN'T, PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO E-MAIL ME AND ASK ME MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT MY "DILEMMA!"

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR TIME READING THIS!!! :)

Lcolada~

If you're looking for styles for long hair, check the galleries and archives on this site. The options are too numerous to address. Aside from braids and ponytails, you can pull back the sides only, work with updos, or bind your hair with a series of ties all the way down its length, a la Pocahontas.

Portia diRossi gets her curls with a curling iron. Her hair is also angled so it's shorter in the front and easier to curl. According to interviews with her stylists, they use a medium-curling iron and wrap pieces of hair around it, starting in the middle of the hair shaft and working down to the ends (wich should always get the least heat to avoid damage) in a spiral. Then they set it with hairspray. (Also, before curling, they put a thermal protectant in her hair and blow it out with a round brush for volume.) This is a high-maintenance style that would probably damage your long hair if done too frequently.

Leelee Sobieski's natural texture is fine and straight, so her stylist just uses a volumizer and then blows her hair out to make it smooth and shiny.

I don't know if that helps. Portia's hair is shorter than waist-length and so will probably hold a curl better than yours. (Less weight.)
