My sister's graduation is next week and I have no idea what I'm going to do with my hair.

I can't look up "traditional" prom styles or anything because I've been heat free for 5 months now, so dryers and curling irons are out.

I got a knee-length strapless white summer dress for the ceremonies, but the hair is still a problem.

When I was a little girl, my mother would wrap my hair up in rags and I would sleep on them and have massive curls the next day. She thinks I'm going to have to have the rags in for probably 12 hours for the same thing to happen now at my length though.

So any suggestions? Up or down is fine as long as I can do it myself and I don't need any heat.

Do you know how to do crown braids? Perhaps you could do one and either have it all up or leave the length out like a real crown.

Or maybe do a regular braid and make a bun out of it. You could decorate with ribbon or flowers or something that can be woven in.

Your hair will look stunning no matter what!!!  But I'd say go with the rag curls and then french braid the top section and leave a really long curly/ringlety tail.  It looks formal, but still very arty.   Wear an eyecatching hair toy in the braid tie-off point too!

What can't you do with long hair?

French twists are always an elegant understatement.  Chignons also look cool and sophisticated.

Also, if you can french  braid,  try a variation - upsidedown french braiding.  Start at the nape of your neck and braid upwards, then tuck in the ends into a nice textured up-do.  You will have to start this with your head upsidedown, but it is not that hard.  And you do not need a mirror, only some practice time.  The book I learned how to french braid from recommended not using mirrors since the reverse view can consude the braider.

You could also try a fish-tail weave, but not all hair will hold this style.

Weather Forcast - With high humidity in the air, expect general hair frizziness to continue :-/
Current Length: 30 inches or so from the front

Holly -- I don't have any specific style suggestions, but if you decide on a 'do which requires some styling, I would suggest practice before the day of her graduation.

Do let us know which 'do you choose.

Hey...

I am just wondering what you decided to do with your hair for your sister's grad.

My brother's grad was on Friday, and I got lazy....I just put it back in long french braid.  I was happy with  how it looked, but I wish I would have done something more trendy.
