I have a quick question, I just took my braids out tonight and i need to wash my hair and all the good stuff but i am wondering how to detangle my hair without it getting tangled because it's like really thick and i have a lot of new growth. So should i try to comb it first then wash or let some conditoner on it to let it untangle?? What's the best way to go about it??

I used lots of conditioner on my hair last time I took out my  braids and it worked like a charm, I used a wide tooth comb to comb through.

IA W/Angel

Use conditioner and a wide tooth comb to detangle.

Well,...... I wash my hair last night and it was a disaster i just couldn't seem to get through all the 3 months of newgrowth without seeing clumps of hair coming out, i didn't know if it was shedded hair from over the two months of having braids or just my own hair coming out. I used the wgo on my hair when it was dry to detangle and that did work but it's just when it came to the washing and combing afterwards is where the problem began. Sorry guys one more thing, i know my hair grew quite a bit much while i had my braids in but it doesn't look like it now that my hair is down. I guess it's the shrinkage???? would i be able to see a difference even though i don't have a relaxer right now???

A good conditioner is obviously a neccesity but I also use a Denman brush, which was a HUGE difference in detangling.
I'm in!

When I take my braids down I coat each braid with a moisturizing conditioner (VO5 Moisture Milks Strawberry & Cream) and the braids literally slide off with minimal manipulation....I saturate the hair with condish and gently loosen sections that are clumped together with lint....then I divide the hair in 4 sections and wash each section at a time http://www.growafrohairlong.com This is a great website to help with managing braids. And yes you will have shrinkage till your next relaxer HTH [:)]
