I got my hair cut back in March and it was sort of OK, but I went the other day for a trim and wanted to fix some funky areas(a kind of "notch" at my shoulders)and It looks horrible!!! I started out with hair all one length to the middle of my back, now I'm two inches above the bra line, thinned out in back, and moppy on the sides and front. I have a perm that's loose and sort of natural curl looking. I just don't know what to do. It's not all my beautician's fault, I can't give her a lot of direction, I HATE nearly all the latest styles I see and I look crapy with straight hair. I can't think of "Elaine" from Seinfeld's real name is, but she (I think)looks really bad with stick straight hair (gorgeous with curls)...that's like me. What do I do now besides pray for fast growth?

Please answer O wisdom of the great Hair Talk posters!

Hi Shelley:
I am not sure what you mean when you refer to a "notch" at the shoulders. Perhaps you mean an area where face layers have grown out and seem to lay on the shoulders and do nothing. I can only guess about this problem. The best bet is to wear you hair in a curly fashion and let it grown like you said. Maybe when it has grown out a little you can have it recut blunt across the back and it will look thicker and bouncier. Hope this helps!

You are close; the "notch" is as if I had bangs that were
growing out, but I never had bangs, in fact to start with, my hair was all one length, curly, and at the middle of my back. I fear that this was a mistake, and the correction of the mistake has made it worse! I have decided that the worse of all is the back layers (she long-layered it the first time) I am definately letting that grow and I think I may let the front grow too. I like my old style best I think. Here is a picture of my original style: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Woods/1142/pictures.htm
or

My name is Shelley if you didn't figure that out.

Thanks for the input!
