QuoteReplyTopic: Do you use Essential Oils in your products? Posted: July 02 2006 at 1:59pm
I use essential oils in my poos, conditioners and more. I was reading an old Essense magazine that happened to be about improving your hair. They had suggested a few home-made recipes and one of them called for peppermint oil (which is one of my favorites). He said that you could put 6-8 drops in and that should be safe enough for you to use 3 times a week. Do you ladies limit the amount of essential oils that you are putting into your products and the time frame that you use them in?
I do. I use tea tree in my 'poo and in my bottle of Doo grow. I found if I put tea tree, and a tiny bit of lavender into it, my scalp is very very happy. Tea tree for me is almost daily, I use about 3-5 drops in a three quarters full bottle of Doo Grow. I noticed that since I started using the tea tree my scalp hasn't been itchy or flaky at all and I am very prone to dandruff. I think you should be careful when you first use any new thing on your scalp and in your hair. be sure to do a small test first to check for any allergies.
Thanks SuperFluff! I have been using a little more that 3-5 drops. In my 12fl bottle of Surge Plus 14 I have used 20-25 drops of Peppermint, 15 drops of rosemary and 15 drops of lemongrass. Is that too much ? I haven't had any reaction to the oils and I love the tingling effect that I get when I use it.
i have essential oils in everything... shampoo, moisturizers, whatever! I like peppermint, rosemary, cedarwood, thyme, etc. I love them. I think as long as you use in the proper dilutions and don't use them leading right up to a relaxer you should be fine.
And like superfluff said, always do a patch test when trying new oils for the first time.
How much are you putting in your products and how long before your relaxer do you stop using? Does that go for other products like Surge Plus 14 or MTG?
