I am a newbie here i am loving all the adive this forum has given me butI have a question: I am half african american and filipino. i have really curly hair and I just bought a flat iron is there anyhting I need to put on my hair to prep before i straighten it. please help me  I would really appreciate it if you would give me the products names. thaks in advance

Hey Flo! first off welcome . Before straightening I would advise that you use a heat protectant- it puts a barrier between the heat of the iron and your hair, to save your hair from some damange.  If i were going to flat iron my hair first I would wash and condition it really well, then i would comb it out while it was wet and let it air dry. If you want you can blow dry it straight (using the heat protectant.) then i would flat iron it in small pieces about an inch or so thick.
 
The only heat protectant i've used if the V05 one and it seems to work fine.

Yup the VO5 is the spray kind, its in a hot red bottle, you can find it at like walmart, kmart, target.. pretty much anywhere

ITA w/ using a heat protectant before flat ironing.  I use Fantasia IC serum.

I straighten my hair last night it was great even tough it took a hour my hair is kinda long) but it so pretty i also wrap it last night kinda hard but i think i will gert used to it! thanks for you guys help. I think i am going to try hot rolling so I won't put to much heat on my hair do you guys have any suggestion for that??
