How long did it take you to grow your hair from shoulderlength to brastrap length or beyond?  It seemed like when my hair was ear length it grew so fast and got to shoulder length in no time.  Now that Im at shoulder length it seems like it is taking forever for it to  grow past my shoulders.  Everytime I get a relaxer I only see a small amount of growth and I am getting really impatient.  Also my hair is not breaking off or damaged so I dont understand what the problem is.

Well it took me 10.5 months to go from shoulder length to brastrap length. Everyone's hair growth rate is different, your hair is growing so that's a good thing. Focus on retaining your length, protective styles can help.

It took me 7 months to get from collarbone length to top of brastap but my ends needed to be cut so I took of about two inches. I'm now a little past armpit length hoping to get back at the top of brastrap with my next relaxer in August.
Current Length: V near brastrap
Last relaxer: Dec. 23, 2007
Next Relaxer: Aug. 3, 2008
First hair goal:Bottom of bra-strap
Second hair goal:Mid-back length

My first post here!

My hair grows really fast yet it seems to slow down A LOT once it reaches close to half way down my back. I would have to say everytime I go get a relaxer (every 6 weeks) my hair has grown a half inch or so. Sorry I don't know how long it took to grow it like this exactly since my hair's been the same length for a while now. But I know how it feels when your hair's growth is "stagnant".

longhairgrower: Thank you so much! I am a bit of a hair fanatic when it comes to keeping my hair healthy, but I stick to a simple regimen.

(taggi, this answers your question) I get a relaxer every six weeks so it doesn't break off, and I have my hairdresser set and wrap it. I don't trust myself or anyone else whose not a professional to put relaxer in my hair, since I've heard some bad stories :(

anyway, every two weeks or so, i wash, condition and deep condition my hair with neutrogena triple moisture products, then I use paul mitchell leave in conditioner, then either set and wrap it myself or put it in a bun, let it air dry, then shake it out so I have waves. I don't use oil, gel, hairspray, or mousse in my hair.

I wash mine every week or two as well. Product build up isnt really bad on my scalp and when I wash too much it feels dry and I have to really oil my scalp and hair.

Thank you.  Yeah, my hair was at a stand still before I found hair boards.  It was long but wouldn't grow any longer and it was damaged.  Since you already seem to have great hair care you should be on your way in no time.  Best of luck reaching your goal.

Oil is not a moisturizer itself, however, many people use it to seal in moisture.

Happy hair growing and great hair ladies!
