Hey everyone, I am new here and i have a few ?s it seems like everyone is pretty knowledgeable about hair.

Here goes:

I have relaxed hair thats about 2 inches below my shoulders and my hair broke off about 4 years ago beccause of the curling iron and it jworse. I go to the hair salon every 2weks and get a touch up every 6wks. if i can't get to the hair salon i use kera hydrating detangling shampoo and leave in conditoner. i use doo gro grease @ night and then i tie my hair up with silk scarf(not wraping)  My hair has broken @ the back on the left side. and it will grow back and then it will break off and its been that way for 2 to 3 years. Its growing back right now but i want to try to make my hair grow back but  if it breaks off again i think i'm gonna try to grow my perm out.

Does your stylist just apply the relaxer to the new growth? Do you deep condition? Moisturize? Wear protective styles? How often do you use heat?

Also, you may want to extend the time that you wait between relaxers.

do you use a rinse out conditioner? and yes, stop relaxing so often. you can try stretching to 8 weeks next time. also, you need to start using a protein product. especially for the section that's breaking.

i would recommened a light protein conditioner every week and a strong one once a month. moisturise daily and stop or reduce the amount/frequency of heat you apply to your hair.

Welcome to the site! I agree with Renee after shampooing you should use a deep conditioner ex: ORS replensing pak, Kenra MC, Miss keys 10 en 1 or a Keracare condish. I would recomend doing a heavy protein treatment (Apoghee for damaged hair) to stop the breaking and strenghten your hair. I am not familar with doo gro products but if it contains mineral oil or petroleum it is not benfiting your hair try: Wild growh oil or Parnevu t-tree oil (in applicator bottle). For daily maintence apply a leave-in conditioner (Neutrogena Silk-leave in) and seal it with an oil. HTH

Thanks for all the tips,  should i start washing my hair every week? i usually go to the salon and get it washed every 2wks. This leavein conditioner do i just put it on everyday? what is HTH?  Where would i get this wild growth old and parnevu? Where could i get a silk scrap? would i have to go to a ethnic hair store to get these products? What i have notice is the side i lay on the most is where it breaks off.

Hey peeps, I think if you hair is damaged and keeps breaking(all this is just my opinion) wash and condition every 3 or 4 days and leave your con on for 30 to and hour. Deep con you hair every 3 weeks, sit under a hooded dryer for about 15-20 min. Use a leave in con every time you wash and con.Hot oil treatments once a month.Use clarifying sham once a moth so you won't have build up on you scalp. f Moisturize hair daily or every other day( my favorite is ors olive oil lotion)Where protective styles like rollerset and phony ponytail or buns. You can get everything you need from a beauty supply store or on line.(some ingredients I use is Motions CPR sham anti- breakage , Motions CPR anti-breakage, Motion neutralizing sham to clarify, ors mayo) Motion products is not for everyone but it worked for me!!!  I think I might change products now my hair is more healthier. ORS products sounds good and please get some wild growth oil. Good luck

Hey lil, I would suggest washing at least once a week and using the leave-in con everyday sealing it with oil each time. You can find Wild growth oil at Sally's Beauty supply for $7.99 (a little goes a long way) and Parnevu t-tree oil in applicator bottle at Wal-mart. You can get a silk wrap at any beauty supply store or even the Family Dollar store. I suggest alternating the direction you wrap your hair every night to stop that breakage on one side. HTH= hope this helps :-)
