I'm currently letting my layers grow out. I wanted to know if anyone had any advice on what I can do besides blow dry my hair everyday to style my hair. It is layered and cut right below my ears. Help this haircut is driving me crazy. Another things is in the back after I style it and go outside my hair turns up, what can I use to keep it styled under!

As weird as it may seem - it sounds like you need it cut. Don't worry, not a major cut by any means, if you have a good stylist he/she should be able to shape your hair to grow out more gracefully. The problem is that hairs grow out at different speeds and also different areas grow faster than others - this creates an imbalance that can cause your hair to do "funky" stuff. Be sure to tell your stylist that you are trying to grow your hair out and that you just want it shaped....

I feel for you. My wife cut her hair from 18 inches long to very short layers in April '98. Soon after that she started growing it out and ran into the same problems you describe, including the back turning or "flipping" up. Her stylist explained that the turning up would last until the hair grew out and was trimmed two more times, and sure enough she was right. I guess the top layers grew enough to fall over the bottom layers. I know it's driving you crazy, but be patient, get regular trims from a stylist who knows you are growing it out (that was good advice you already got!), and before long it will fall into place without daily blow drying or flipping up. My wife kept a calendar with milestones, to track her hairgrowth progress and help stay motivated. Now her hair's 16 inches long again and all one length, but it took more than a year after she started growing it out to reach all one length and 10 inches long. Good luck! It will be worth it.
