QuoteReplyTopic: cool toned skin=no red hair? Posted: July 30 2006 at 12:48am
I went to this makeup counter and found out im a "cool". So I went home and looked up some complimenting colors and stuff. I read that cools should stay away from red hair? Kate Winslet is a cool and sported red hair in Titanic as Kirsten Dunst did in Spiderman 3. Is this a misconception or is red really not a good color? (i was about to go red in a week... = /)

I think most colour guides are just that, a guide....sure some people wouldnt look as fab as a blonde or redhead but i think the majority of us could pull off alot of colours we should technically stay away from. Both Kate and Kirsten have fairish complexions with blue eyes, are you the same? I think red hair looks good on alot of people, but then again there are many different shades of red, ranging from fire engine red, to more of an orangey red, to auburn red. Im sure you could find a red that would look really good on you =D
The main reason they tell cool skins to stay away from reds is because alot of cool skins have alot of pink in their skin tone and red hair brings out more of the pink tones which can lead to an overly pink looking face.
