QuoteReplyTopic: Shedding up the ying yang Posted: August 07 2006 at 2:42pm
so I installed some D-lux hair on a friend of mine. It was 240 strands of I-tips, installed with silicon microrings. I did use shrinkies on the sides and very top row. The problem is that she is losing so much hair, she say's that it is falling out in clumps, and that she has lost about 10 complete tips.
Does anybody have any suggestions???
I will post pictures (when I can figure out why it keeps dumping me off the system after I upload the 3rd picture).
Sorry to hear that.....did you put any nail glue on any of the tips the day before you installed? And of course the other questions Sand asked. Sorry to hear that.
Speaking generically about any tipped hair...it sheds because the tip has not been thoroughly spun in glue. When the tip is crunched under pliers, it spreads and the hair slips out. You can test one real quick by taking a tip and place a ring over it and close it. Now reopen the ring. If it has fallen apart, it's going to shed during wear. Same principle applies during fusion and shrinkie installs when a tip's glue in spread and isn't coating all the strands.
It might help. But it depends on how well the pretip was made to begin with. If you purchase pretipped hair, there is the risk of shedding if that tip wasnt glued together with enough glue. I know pretipping is a PITA but if you are planning a full head install your better off pretipping your own!
Exactly. The only way to get an already pretipped strand back into a non-shed tip is to respin it with a wand and probably add a little more glue when doing it. If it's already installed, you're SOL.
I find that some companies use some kind of wax based stuff for their pretips and when I try to reheat it when reusing it, it just shreads apart even worse. The wax starts to crumble.
So when I reuse the hair I always have my fusion iron and my fusion chips to add more glue on the tip and then respin it. It makes for a longer process for the client, but it's the only way the hair can be reused.
She came by yesturday and her hair looked horrible, it looked like she was a cancer patient (sorry if I offend anybody) It looked like she had lost half of the hair that I installed. The only thing that we could do is take it down. So, needless to say, she was very disappointed that she spent so much money on the hair and supplies and it lasted her only 2 weeks. The quality of the hair was not very good either, it was very day and brittle.
As I was taking them out, I noticed that some of the rings has the very tip of the hair in them, but the length of the hair was completely missing, almost like it dissinigrated (sp?) So overall we were not happy with the hair, and it makes me very leary on using pre-made pre-tips, she wants to install again but wants to use shrinkies this time, I am trying to convince her to try pro-tac, as it took me 6 hrs to install the rings, and 2 hrs to take them down and remove the residue in her hair.
