I would say that good hair + starter kit would be around $200- $300 min.
You can get keratin glue and hot pot/glue gun that are not very expensive on some websites.
Read as much as you can and decide which technique would work best for you. Lots of people like the microrings. Try to watch demo video also! Check out the listing of videos available on this forum ("extensions101 for beginner" by sherrie)
The hair has to be a little expensive if you want something nice.
Jet Set is cheap and ok quality.
Glamourhair is better and more expensive(about $150 for 18' hair)
I think Bohyme Remy is really good but I have't tried it yet!!

We are mostly a diy forum. Most of us use the glue-in weft method
because it's less $$ than going to the salon and getting fusion or any
other individual method. Some people get sew in tracks which cost less
than fusion too. If you go to a salon for an individual method it can
be expensive but people do it and I would too if I had the $$ for it.
Currently I'm putting two rows of clip ins in every day. I'm fine with
it for the summer. I may soon go back to glue in wefts with the protac
tape.

my best friend does next to NOTHING herself......when i need to hire someone for some handiwork beyond my expertise, she is the person to call with all the numbers
however, I am the person to call for how to figure out how to do it yourself....from caulking the tub to replacing the toilet to sticking in my hair......
for my friend, going to the salon is NOT a waste of money....its her choice and she is very satisfied
for me, i choose to fix (and f-up) my own hair
DLux hair, has gotten good reviews on the hair itself....but shedding is a reported problem ive read on the pretips as well as the wefts
i have the fusion iron from your hair shop and it works great. I think it would be more comfortable that the straight wand. I used to have fusion but it damages my hair too much so I now do sew-ins. I use my iron now for pretipped highlights. I have used some of the dlux for highlights and they were ok quality but I did not have a full head so I cant give a good opinion on them
