Hot oil treatments....

I've read a lot of recommendations on this board for hot olive oil treatments for dry, damaged hair. I tried it once many months ago and found it way too heavy for my hair, but as of late my hair's become more severely damaged, so I decided to give it another try. Lo and behold, despite my slathering tons of the substance on, my hair seemed softer and stronger afterwards - it definitely 'cracked' a great deal less. My hair drank the oil, so now I'm rather intrigued....I'm wondering if anyone's tried any other oils with good results. Sesame, almond, jojoba, carrot or blends, etc.
