QuoteReplyTopic: SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME...I CAN'T LEAVE MY HOUSE!!! Posted: August 13 2006 at 4:05pm
Ok, I'll explain exactly how it happened...I've been growing out my hair in it's natural state for about 2 years now, and I was so happy with it, it was long, thick, and recently (about 3 weeks ago) dyed a honey-brown. Before that I'd had my hair in braid for more than half my life (i'm 20, and i'd had synthetic hair braid since i was 9), and when I decided to take them down and not get them braided over again for good, around the end of high school, my hair was a mess (when ever I got new braids, my mom relaxed my hair first then braided it), damaged, and completely brittle....so I cut off the ends (this is still 2 yrs ago) and grew it out naturally....now on to the present: yesterday I came home from school to visit my mom, and I saw how beautiful her hair looked: nice and shiny...kinda afro-ed like mine but looser. I asked her what she did I she said she put a s-curl on it, then did asked if I wanted her to do mine. I was all for it, as long as it didn't starighten my hair, I liked my hair as it was...but i wanted to be looser...long story short, she put it on my hair and I my hair became completely frizzy, and straight...I completely lost the natural texture my hair had b/f!! It looked damaged and I started freaking out so my mom washed my hair with baking soda and vinegar to get the s-curl out, and today, when I woke up....it looks even worst!!! I WANT MY OLD HAIR BACK!! This is completely what I didn't want to happen to my hair....I can't even leave the house. I fear I'm going to have to cut it all off, could some one please help me....I don't know what went wrong!!!
Well first of all s-curl is a chemical service if I'm not mistaken (I don't know much about it) so it can't be washed out just like a relaxer. I think its a texturizer
The only thing I can think of is for you to wait for it your natural hair to grow long enough to where if you want to cut off the texlaxed parts and still have hair. But this would require you to learn how to take care of your hair the way it is now.
Maybe you should see a good stylist who can help you better than i can.
I agree with stillinlove. See a stylist about restoring your hair back to it's natural state. Meanwhile maybe you can keep your hair braided (minus the relaxer or any chemical) and keep them well moisturized and conditioned while transitioning. For a looser texture try braid outs or twist outs. HTH.
Don't worry, you know that your hair is capable of being long and healthy, just give it time, patience and lots of TLC

Is was the chemical process...is there any way I can use the bottled on to get aleast some of my original texture back into my hair? I'm desperate here....
the only way to get your original texture back is to either grow out the s-curl or shave your head b/c its a chemical service. The one in the bottle is a really good moisturizer though.
Thanks you guys...it's been a few days, and even though I still miss my natural hair so much.....I've accepted my fate in this new hairstyle....I made a appointment with a hairstylist, hopefully she'll give me back some of the happiness I lost...
With some major tlc it can and will go back to its naturall curls however you might have get 1/2 an inch trimmed each month and that way you won't lose any length but (unless your hair grows an inch a month) you won't gain any either.
I would use some Aphogee treatment or Soft-Sheen Duo-Tex (sold in Sally's in a large white and yellow bottlle) to prevent chemical breakage. Good luck.
