Hi, I wonder if any one can help?
I have had a client today ring me to say that her recent install is shedding quite alot. The problem is I really can't think what the problem could be! I havent fitted the extensions any differently to all my other clients and havent used any different products either. I use the fusion method and I can honestly say that I have never experienced any problems before,she has also said that the bonds are feeling 'tacky' which made me wonder if it could be the shampoo that she's using,but she says that she has always used this one and never had any problems before?!
Has anyone any ideas? I am considering trying another keratin glue,does anyone know one that is good? Also I thought about putting a drop of nail glue onto each bond to try to stop shedding,does anyone know if this works?
I'd be greatfull of any input,as it is starting to get on my nerves wondering what it could be!! Hopefully I wont lie in bed tonight wondering!,lol

Yup the nail glue is what stops the shedding =) if the bonds are tacky it sounds like shes not looking after them properly, maybe shes not drying them after washing? of course you couldnt just outrightly accuse her of this but the only reason they would shed is if the pretips were breaking down...next time id dip the pretip in nail glue just to be on the safe side =)

Just a question about dipping the pre-tips in nail glue before application - What happens when you're ready to remove the extensions? Does the nail glue prevent breaking down the bond thus causing hair breakage when trying to remove it?
Firstly chick, if you've never had any problems like this before, don't change your glue. This will definitely be something the client is doing, unfortunately they never admit to doing anything. I've had a few like this and when I've got them back in to check the bonds they've gone a little soft so obviously they've done something but when you ask them you get that they haven't changed their shampoo, they haven't used anything with oil in, they haven't been swimming a lot etc etc. At the end of the day that's just what some people are like, they just don't want to own up because they don't want to pay anything else. In these situations I bite my tongue and say that basically its nothing either of us have done, that it sometimes happens unfortunately and that for them to let me know when its starting to get a little thin and I'll thicken them up for free, that usually solves the problem. The shedding then seems to go completely out of their mind because they've been reassured that they aren't going to be walking around with half the hair that had in from the beginning. You can then asssess the bonds when she comes back xx
I've had countless sleepless nights worrying when things just don't go to plan but I don't let it bother me anymore because anything to do with extensions can be fixed and you actually find that you end up more worried and stressed than the client. Text me if you haven't got some spare of the colour that she needs save you ordering another pack and I'll have a check and send you some xx
you can use nailglue to coat the tips of stick tip (aka I tip, shoelace tip) hair. Just put a drop of nailglue on the tip and let it coat the tip. Its thin so it will spread over the tip. Or you could put a few drops onto a piece of paper and roll the tip in it. Make sure to hang the hair that youve coated over something to dry so the tips arent touching anything.
You don't dip it in nail glue. If you get some nail glue with a small brush or a thin spout at the end then just run a line between where the glued end and the hair meets then if the glue becomes weak the hair will still not shed. This is ok for diyer's but not if you tip hair as your business really as its like double tipping the hair x
Thanks a lot amanda,but she's got mainly colour 22 through the extensions and rekon thats the most popular colour I use!! (lucky for her otherwise she'd be making do with 1B!l) Hehe,anyway gonna see her next week and sort it out,thanks for all you're help. I feel loads better now and have spoken to most of my clients and they said thy're fine,so I dont have to worry really.

Truer words were never spoken. I've got two ladies wearing the exact same hair. One looks fabulous; smooth, sleek, silky, always groomed to perfection. The other one I saw in passing last week and it looks like road kill; never washed, styled or even looking like it's been brushed. She "LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES" it. It's really disheartening when the instructions are given and stressed upon and they so obviously aren't followed.
personally, my fusion tips get sticky only towards the end of the 3 month wear..........unless I have not been taking proper care!!!! I find they become stickier if I am only letting my hair airdry or sleeping on it when it's wet!
Remember that each person's body chemistry is different, so while the glue works well with most people, perhaps this woman's body chemistry is breaking down the glue. I have experienced this too with shrink links. While they work well for most people, I have a few clients for whom they just slip right out.
If her body chemistry is the problem, than perhaps changing glues for her might help or maybe even a different method, such as microrings.
