Hi
This is my first post on the boards but I have been reading them on and off for some time now and the help that you all give eachother is just wonderful. I hope some of that help could now come my way as I have a bit of a dilemma at the moment. I recently had my hair cut and highlighted at the salon , I asked for a long bobbed style but unfortunetly it is a little shorter at the sides than I would have liked ( about 1 inch below the ears at the sides) and I would have liked it to have been just below the jaw line in this area. I was thinking about installing a few extensions just to give a little extra length in this area but I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about the placement of them. If you think of Victoria Beckhams new style, that's pretty much what I wanted and I just want those longer front pieces. I have all the equipment to make these, weft hair, shrinkies, heat wand ect or do you think that I should make some clip in extensions for this and if so , how wide would I need to make them? Also, should I mix ( alternate) brown and blond extensions to match my highlights and how should I place these if I need to? Obviously I would need to shape them to match in with the graduated style, any tips on doing this? I have a hairdressers razer but I have never used it before. Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Deebroady,

Welcome to the hair extension forum! Don't be afraid to post any question you might have. The people here are very nice, very helpful, and have a lot of knowledge. Since you don't know how to use a razor the best advice I can give you is to go to a extension hairdresser to install. Let her use whatever method she is most comfortable with. This usually will give you the best results. Don't forget to see pics of her other clients before and afters. They need to be extension photos she has installed herself.

welcome to our board
to ad some length to your sides, you could do either small clip ins, or do some ind, strands installed with either micro links or shrinkies.

Hi and thankyou both very much for your help. What I will do first is make some small clip in extensions and try those, that way, there would be no harm done if they were unsuccessful. If they are ok, I may just stick with those or try some installed and see how they go. I think your right about the cutting though...... I'l leave that to a professional. Thanks once again for your invaluable help.

I did exactly what you're describing to my hair in the Spring.  I placed one row of about 10 shrinkies in a line from just below my temple to just behind the ear, then I blended it using a razor.  I pre-tipped some Indian remy, and the strands were very thick, so I only needed one row on each side.  It worked out perfectly.
