I`ve been thinking about cutting bangs lately because I need a change. I have had them before, but never been that happy. My face is oval/long, and my hair is wavy, so they can be hard to style at times since I like to wear it straight What kind of bangs would be easy to care for but look good on my face shape?

I am also thinking of cutting bangs into my wavy hair. My face is more oval/round than oval/long but I have found from past experience that longer is better, since the weight helps to keep cowlicks and waves at bay. Also with enough length you can wrap them around a big round brush and get them nice and straight but still full.
I think jaggy bangs that go straight across would look good on you and help downplay any longness in your face.
I think bangs are coming back into style again, maybe as a reaction to all the straight, long parted down the middle looks that have become so popular (and are now boring).

I personally don`t really like bangs that much, but if you were going to get any, I would suggest longish, fine bangs, as they still give you the sensation of bangs, without having thick or shorter bangs which really change the whole way you look.
Bangs....ahhhh yes.....My pain and my passion. :-)
When I was 14 I decided that I could NOT live without bangs. My hair is naturally wavy and so until I got the hang of it I would have a monstor wave sticking straight up on my forehead. YUCK.
I did everything from tape my wet bangs to my eyebrows to ironing them.
What currently works? A tiny dab of Edwin Paul Smoothing Lotion, I love that stuff, and a hot blowdryer on JUST my bangs. I use my fingers to pick the bangs as I blow dry. I direct the up from the ends UP to the roots to get lift and fullness.
I also have Shelley Pryor texturizie them to give them fullness and body. She cuts tiny "Vs" into the ends to give the bangs lift and fullness.
When I really want full and straight bangs I first use a tiny dab of Matrix Amplify and then a tiny bit of Edwin Paul Smoothing Lotion and viola, full and straight bangs.
That also doesn`t damage the rest of my hair which is only blown dry for very special occasions.

Thanks for the tips on styling wavy bangs, Karen. I haven`t cut any yet, but I`m still thinking about it. One question, what exact Matrix Amplify product do you use? I have the Amplify mousse, would that work at all? Thanks.
I use the Matrix Amplify gel or root lift. I am not sure the Amplify mousse would work as well but you never know till you try. :-)
I am a little careful of how much of the Amplify that I do use because my hair is highlighted and it is a well known secret that a product like Amplify which opens and expands the cuticle (hence the volume effect) can also accelerate hair color fadage. So my stylist warned me NOT to use the Amplify on any part of my hair but my bangs...and then only for special events. So I try to only use it every once in awhile.
For people with hair that is not colored that want lots of volume the Amplify is awesome. My business partner Michael has very fine and thin hair. He has been using the Amplify shampoo and gel for about 1 year. His hair looks awesome. Ironically he ran out of the Amplify and waited a little while before he got more. His hair degraded rapidly and he admitted that the Amplify has been really great for his hair. A miracle product.
Also, I recently gave some Edwin Paul Volume Mist (which is very light but works like crazy) to a friend with thin hair and she could not believe how well it worked for her thin hair. She loves the fact that it is very light yet it plumps up her hair.
I have also used the EP Volume Mist on my bangs but I personally like the Amplify gel just a little better with the EP Smoothing which is odd but oh well, I would put just about anything on my hair if it helped. :-)
Best wishes, Karen
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
