Hi ladies, has anyone heard of mildly texturizing hair by applying a relaxer and leaving it on for like 5 minutes?? I've heard some ppl talk about it isn't supposed to get your hair straight, but just loosen up your curls a lil bit. I'm mostly a 4a, some 4b, and I love my curls but the shrinkage kills me!! :) I just wanted to know how to effectively do it myself without leaving it on too long and fully relaxing my hair. Thanx lovelies!!!

I have a mild relaxer on my hair. Like you, I love my curls but I also like the sleek look. I get roller sets because it requires less heat for getting straighter styles and with a mild relaxer I can acheive both looks with low maintanance and no damaging hair styling tools. Honeslty I wouldn't do the relaxer myself, but if thats what you want to do, the key is to comb the relaxer through with a wide tooth comb. Leave in for 10 -15 mins depending on how loose you want your curls, then rinse immediately. Don't forget to neutralize afterwards!
