A bun, or some sort of protective style.

Any style that keeps your ends from rubbing your clothes alot...such as the bun.  Highpontails can do that as well.

 
Anything that does not need alot of heat to maintain it. Roller set for example...if you wanted curly
 
Any style that keeps you from manipulating your hair alot...such as braids.

But I thought that braids make your hair grow fast because my friend she wore braids all the time....and I mean all the time and now her hair is down to her but and too mention she's African American

Well braids mean you don't manipulate your hair much, therefore you retain alot of length.  It's not about making the hair grow faster, its about keeping the length you already have plus the length that is growing.
