I recently took my braids out and noticed that my hairline has been pretty thinned out. I thought they would be good to have since I started exercising. I've also noticed that my hair is falling out/shedding. My questions are what can I do about growing my hairline back in, what is a good way to take care of my hair (I'm not giving up on exercising), and is there anything I can do about the shedding?

Thanks

Tamara

P.S. Where can I find information about the proper way to take care of microbraids?

Hello there....I also suffered from a thinned out hairline after taking out braids but the C&G method has been a life saver. http://www.groafrohairlong.com Its important to take care of the hair while braided up and her method works like a charm...also replacing braids along your hair line every 2 weeks or twice a month has helped me. When the hair starts to grow the braid will hang limp, that extra weight can put added stress on the already fragile area so replacing it helps out a lot. Organic castor oil applied everynight to my hairline helped to grow it back. I would recomend a protein treatment Apoghee for damaged hair (can get at Sally's) to help stop shedding. Also doing hot oil treatment with olive oil and using garlic shampoo (Nutrine unscented http://www.ibeautyny.com)will help with the shedding. HTH

I couldn't get the first link to open but the 2nd one worked. I've never had a hot oil treatment. How is it done?

Sorry about that let me try posting again...http://www.growafrohairlong.com/.

I do my hot oil treatment as a pre-poo (Pre-poo= treatment done before shampooing). You can use a variety of vegetable oils and butters for ex:(Shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil, vitamin e oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil)....to start off I would recomend you use olive oil since it has proteins to help strengthen your hair.

Divide your hair in 4 sections
Apply virgin olive oil to each section and braid
Sit under hooded dry for 10 min
Massage honey on each braid wait 5 min.
Rinse and do your regular wash routine HTH
