QuoteReplyTopic: My hair absolutely sucks. Suggestions please. Posted: October 25 2006 at 1:35pm
I have short, auburn hair with lots of curl and waves. My hair is healthy, shiny, and thick.
Problem is, it's wild. Extremely wild and thick. No amount of gel/mousse/hairspray will make it hold a style for very long. I just want it to lie down!
Another thing that's bugging me about my hair, I haven't had the money to go to a professional in months due to university/move. I could get a $10 cut, but I'd rather not get butchered and instead work with someone reputable and experienced. I've had ten dollar cuts and walked out looking like a bloody mess (sometimes literally).
Problem three ... I'm allergic to EVERYTHING. Mold, dairy, and many of the ingredients found in beauty products. I get bad allergic reactions to these things. I choose natural/organic hair products whenever possible. Unfortunately, most professionals don't use these, and the ones I know of who do are expensive.
I'd also like a new style, but I'm not sure what to go with. Something appropriate for my age. I'll post a pic later. Please give some advice on the hair!

id suggest trying diva curl products you can try it out and see how it works for you. I also like catwalk products for curls.
If it becomes bothersome i would try using a lot of conditioner and while hair is wet apply jojoba oil this will tame the wild unruly curls trust me i have them too dont use to much or its to greasy.
Id suggest putting layers in your hair that always helps curly hair and thins out the thickness and unrulyness. Id take a picture to the salon since you dont want to be butchered.

yeah i'd agree to get layers too. just make sure you don't get them too short. how short is your hair now? if it's too short to get layers, maybe go into a beauty supply store and ask them if they can help you out?
