QuoteReplyTopic: Olive Oil Protac Removal! Posted: November 04 2006 at 3:14pm
Hi there!
I wear a full head of bohyme with protac, and I have always had a little trouble with installs. I tried acetone many times (took the hair out before the tapes would come out, had to pick out the tapes, ripped some hair out), citrus remover (wouldn't take much of anything out), and accidental removal (protacs came out when I used Neutrogena Triple Moisture shampoo).
I read some ladies on here used olive oil, so I gave that a try! My bottom two wefts, which have been in 3 weeks, were getting droopy at the edges, (I hardly ever do total takedown, I do it in pieces whenever something gets droopy), so I put olive oil on with a highlight brush, let it sit for 30 minutes, and slowly pulled the hair off the tapes....and it came out GREAT! The tapes also came off the weft beautifully, and left no goop! I didn't pull out any hair, and I got a little moisture treatment in the process (which washed out with clarifying shampoo so the new tapes will stick).
All in all, I think it's my new favorite. There was no downside, plus, it's cheap! Just thought I'd share for any of you with a similar dillema who haven't experimented with this at all!
i use sherries or amms orange oil spray for some clients. i just spray it on, lift up some of hair with a rat tail comb and it all comes out great. i did try the acetone on one weft on my gal and what a mess. it took so much longer and i was so worried it was going to eat my acrylic nails off even with glue, with the oil, it slides right out within 10 mins. then i do a clarifying shampoo with clarifier and baking soda, let that sit for 10 mins and rinse real good. then re install.
Bringing beauty, one head at a time...

Okay, I tried to olive oil removal---- I definitely must have done something wrong! It wouldn't take out the protac, and it turned into a gooey, greasy mess. Ew! haha! :(
I ended up using acetone, but everything got kinda icky from the olive oil! I guess it doesn't work for everyone. I had the protac in for about 6 weeks, so it's not like it was fresh or anything.
I'm thinking I will try to orange oil from sherrie next time!!!
Tangles, that tip with the rattail comb i use EVERY time i uninstall my hair....no matter how good of a remover i've got, there's still going to be SOME hair stuck, and before i used that trick that little bit of hair would get ripped out thank you!

I have done a few removals of Protac+bohyme, and each time, I use a different technique, sometimes the citrus oil works better than acetone, sometimes I use both, last time I did only acetone and it worked great...thanks for the tips about olive oil!
