I just went to the salon after a couple of years of not going and had my past the waist lenghth hair washed and set with large curlers. I just wondered if some stylists take the time to use a wide comb or pick through hair before washing it to get out the tangles and comb afterwards with a wide comb/pick from the bottom to the top. My stylist didn`t untangle my hair before washing, and I don`t know what she used to comb my hair out with. I still loved the results, however I think next time I`ll do the combing myself to prevent any damage.

Thanks

Hi Happyblonde,

It can`t ever hurt to ask the stylist in advance of starting just exactly what he or she will do, including a gentle reminder to comb it out before hand "because it was windy and got all tangled before I arrived..." or, just flat-out ask him/her if he/she will comb it out first. I always comb my hair before going into the salon. Does your stylist have other long-haired clients? Ask. If not, perhaps he/she isn`t aware of how helpful it is to detangle long hair before washing it. Saves them time and effort, and saves your hair!

Well, I hope this helps. It`s nice to hear you loved the results, I`m sure it looked wonderful. :-)

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the advice. I might have found a solution to my "Farrah" hairdo decision. The look i got at this salon was great, just using large rollers and a professional cap dryer. I think this hairstyle is what I will keep for now. I don`t have to layer, and I still get fullness and wave.

Thanks again,
Happyblonde
