QuoteReplyTopic: Semi-permanent Advice...will this fry my hair at all? Posted: March 06 2001 at 12:10am
Hey everyone, it`s me again... My hair is on the verge of camling down, what with my bleach-craze and everything else. Here`s the sitch... I bleached, I dyed it dark blonde, I dyed it light auburn (all this over the course of 2 months, since the blonde had an icky green cast that needed ot GO AWAY) The red has faded, and now I`ve got this brown shade that, while not bad, isn`t quite me. I was at the store and I picked up a box of Clairol Narutal Instincts "Spiced Tea" (Light auburn)...it`s a semi-permanent (lasts 24 shampoos) Will this work? Or will it further fry my hair? (Because if it will, then I say NONONONONO!)

Thanks!
It shouldn`t... Clairol products usually seem to be alot more gentle on the hair. But in your case you might want to wait a little while... It all depends on your hair type. Hope I helped..:)
I use Sahara (lightest one they have) and I put it on once a month. It keeps my blonde tresses bright without going to get a highlight weave at the salon for big bux. I don`t have the time, nor the ability to sit that long!
I have not noticed "fried hair" but it is a little dry after coloring it. 48 hours after I do a dye job I make sure to do a moisture treatment.
that`s about it.
Hair type: fine but thick; natural blonde with 15% grey
Try Rainbow henna. It is sold in most natural/health food stores (not GNC). There is a Light Auburn shade. It will color your hair and leave it in good condition and will fade in about 2 months. www.rainbowresearch.com/

If you do use henna, remember that you cannot REPEAT CANNOT color or perm the hair again until it is completely grown off and CUT off. Not just faded. Henna will react with hair color and perm chemicals and immediately will start smoking and burning.
I`ve used it before. It was OK. It reacted more like a perm. color on my hair because it was kinda damaged when I did it. Good luck, oh and you could always strand test....

WOO! It didnt fry it! As a matter fact...I used Clairol Natural Insticts in an auburn color, and my damaged hair seemed to SOAK up the red better than I`d hoped! I did it a month ago, and I KNOW I`ve wsahed more than 24 shampoos, and my hair is still fairly red (though not as flamey as it was when I firset did it) So YAY, my hair seems to be slowly retuning back to normal.... Bad part is, the top seems to have given up while the back still grows normally...so now I have a mullet of sorts :-) Awwwww...going to get a trim nextr week. Thanks everyone!
