Anyone else have short hair and using extensions? My hair is about 3 inches in the back and maybe 5 inches in the crown and front. I am having success using Indian hair with a wavier texture to hide my short layers. Tips or tricks? I feel like I need alot of hair as I must recreate the entire length as well as the thickness of my natural mane.
I have really, REALLY short hair (about an inch and a half long) and I still wear extensions frequently. Using wavy hair definitely helps, as it's easier to blend. I avoid strand-by-strand methods as they tend to look stringy on short hair. Wefts all the way, and the bigger you can get the hair, the better. I also find-- and this is just personal experience-- that superlong extensions can look flat and phony when you lack natural hair to fill it out. I stick to mid-back-length, as opposed to derriere-length.
The top of my head is currently an issue because the hair at the crown is so short that it sticks up. My solution is to do open-ended braids on the crown...it might not be a natural or seamless look, but it looks a lot better than exposed wefts or linkies. Then I do bonded wefts on the rest of my head, placing the highest row so that the braids cover the track.
I'm planning an install next week. I'll post before and after pics because it really is an amazing transformation to take short, spiky hair and turn it into flowing locks!

Cool, I have just done an install with elite thermo 18' and I am loving them super straight and I have put alot of small bonds towards the top to keep my wild short hairs weighed down. I know what you mean about the transformation from short to long! I feel so naked with my short hair now
