Hi Mrs. Wilson!
For a very natural looking wig I would suggest you buy a Monofilament top (mono top) wig. If you can get it with human hair a lot better.
You can get a great MonoTop wig on Ebay, I get mine from a seller there.
To give it a very natural look, a put my hair under a wig cap, but leave all hair from hair line out, then you place the wig on top leaving your hair line out (I hope you understand).
I recommend an adhesive call "IT's Stays" is water soluble and secure the wig like a charm, without damaging your hair or skin. It comes in a rollon so you roll it around the head exactly between the wig cap edge and the hair, and the wig (here I go, making it sound complicated). The Idea is to secure the Wig Cap that it will be attached to your hair and the Wig hat will be attached to the wig cap.
I went dancing that night and it really stayed! I posted some info and pics in this forum one day after I tried it.
But remember the trick of leaving your hair from hairline out , bllending it with the wig.
But if you get a good mono-top wig it will look so real, even if you dont leave hair out.
Hope this helps!!!

Mrs. Wilson, I had super-short layered hair (seriously, 1 1/2" long) and wanted to grow it out to a shoulder-length layered style. I knew I would have NO patience getting those layers long enough to start adding extensions, even. So, I bought a synthetic, mono-topped wig in the style I was hoping to attain. No one could tell it was a wig! I wore it for several months--it was by far the easiest hair I've ever had.
What I did to keep my short layers back was to use one of those stretchy plastic comb thingies that are attached in a circle that goes around your head. I slid this over my hair around the hairline and pushed it back an inch or so which held the hair back perfectly. I found that the wig sat over this in a way that kept it pretty secure. For the times I wanted it really secure, I had sewed little wig clips into the top upper temple on either side and in the back below the ear on either side. You clip those things into your hair and that wig won't go anywhere, I promise!
The other things to be aware of is that your head size will determine how well any given wig fits. Some wigs come in extra small and extra large, and the size varies between wig companies. A poorly fitting wig will drive you NUTS! What I did was to go to a wig shop that had a lot of different brands. I tried on many until I found the manufacturer, style and color I wanted as well as fitting my head well. Then I went online, did a Google search for that specific manufacturer and style, and looked for the best price! I found I could spend less than $100 for a great wig, saving up to $200 per wig doing it this way! (Notice, I said "per wig." Before long I had four of them!) Once my hair got about 4" long I was able to attach extensions and only use my wigs now for emergencies. They sure were a great way to grow out hair without the hassle of all those weird layers! Good luck to you.

Thank you, Mrs. Wilson! I think the secret of getting the layers to blend with extensions in this style is to get a VERY good razored haircut with the extensions or clipins installed. Before I get any new hair cut, my hair looks ridiculous. But after my beloved stylist cuts in those layers (either with a razor or scissors in that snipping-in way of cutting) to the extension hair, it really does what I want it to with only a good blow-dry after I wash.
Good luck bidding on your new wig!
