Hi - I have had dyed blonde hair for many years and now want to go back to my something close to my natural color of dark brown. I'm worried about what this will do to my hair, since I only do touch-ups to roots every couple of months but never re-dye it completely.

I wondered if anyone who has done this or knows about this can make any suggestions.

I'd like to try it myself if anyone knows some good products, but if that's not a good idea, I will get it done professionally.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Good for you! Because you only do touch-ups and dont color all over,it will be easier for you to go darker because your hair wont have so much color build up on it.
Please though be sure to go red first. Pick a either a reddish blonde or a light auburn shade. (nothing drastic red like burgundy)
Then pick a brown to use.
I know it sounds crazy to use red first, but if you read Claude's sticky and the laws of color, you will see that mixing certain colors equals brown. It is important when going from blonde to brown,to get that red base in the middle (you'd rather have a red undertone then the blonde coming back through)
I hope this helps,I have done it myself and it worked good. You may have to color it brown one or two more times in the future if it fades some, but that is to be expected.
