I just posted this but didn't see the Hair Color page before. Okay i have naturally blonde hair and have always dyed it more blonde. Went to a salon and got it dyed brown. It's been a month and I want it blonde again. Went to sallys and talked to the lady that worked there. She gave me Color Corrector that doesn't use bleach so it's not so damaging. And then I got a neutral blonde color and red gold corrector because she said the color corrector would make it orangish. I have had all this stuff for a week and am scared to do it. Any advise?

Here's how I went from dyed dark brown to light blonde.

I first used a color remover (I used Colorfix.)  After several applications, my hair was a mixture of orange, brown, and dark brown--I looked like a tortoiseshell cat.

After that I used Wellite Creme lightener.  This is a bleach that is mixed with developer--I used 20 volume cream developer.  It took several applications to achieve an all over light blonde color.  I then used Clairol Born Blonde toner to get a nice blonde color.

Going blonde from dyed dark hair requires time, patience, and nerves of steel.  You have to bleach beyond the orange stage, unless orange blonde is the color you want.

Regular hair color, even in a blonde shade, will not get you from orange to blonde.  You need to bleach with lightener.  After all that bleach, your hair will probably feel rather dry and brittle.  I used great quantities of deep conditioner to reach something that looked and behaved like real hair!

It's been three years now.  I am still blonde, but since I only have to do my roots now, the condition of my hair is much better.  It actually behaves almost like normal hair.

Thaks for your advice. The other day I used a hair color remover from Sallys that didn't have bleach in it and it said it wouldn't damage hair. So i used it and it turned a orangey dark blonde. Then I had got lightest blonde(neutral) hair dye from Sallys and also got Red Gold Corrector and put it in the dye(that is what the lady at Sallys told me to do) then I dyed it and she said it wold turn out a few shades darker then lighted blonde. And when I dried it it was a warm(not orange) light brown(before it was darkk brown) and I do like it lighter brown better, so its a step. And then I got highlights that were for light to med. brown hair called Toasted Almond and just put a FEW highlights on the top and it looks okay, I just don't know how I can get it blonde for the next time I need to dye it. Bc my roots are still going to come in blonde. Should I try to color correct it again, now that it is lighter it might make it go even lighter and get a lighter blonde dye? The corrector said if all the color didn't come out I could use it again, bc it won't damage....?
