I've spent a year and a half growing out damaged hair that was blonde, then dyed-over brown, and I am finally all-natural. I had to cut off alot of hair, but it is now growing and looking amazing! Last night, I noticed 2 gray hairs!  I just turned 30.  I am loving having my hair natural again, it is so soft and bouncy and shiny, and can't wait for it to get longer. Now I'm actually wondering how long I have until they gray is noticeable.  I'm also debating how I will deal with it. I dont want to dye it all over-even semi perm color leaves an orangey hue for me from the peroxide. Plus, I want to keep as much of the natural color as I can.  I used to think maybe I would get highlights to blend it, but I just spent all this time growing highlights out. Granted, most of my hair was highlighted so it was mostly blonde. When I had highlights I liked them, but we all know that over time, with touch-ups you can end up with mostly blonde hair and no natural color left.

The problem that I have is that I still look really young.  If the grays come in alot, I just think it will age me alot.  It would be different if I were 40 but right now I still look like I'm in my early 20's.  I guess I will wait and see how quickly it comes in. Maybe I will have a couple of years with just a few grays here and there. any ideas on how quickly you go gray?  I plan to let the gray come in at this point. I want to see how it looks. I would like to just leave it alone for a while and see if in a few years I like the silver hairs.  Any input?

Here's what I would do.  Select a demi permanent color that closely matches your hair color.  Take about 5-10  little sections of hair, maybe 10 strands of hair per section--include the grey is some of those sections.  Use the demi permanent on those sections.  It should blend the hair nicely with your natural color, and hide those greys a bit longer.  Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Oh, one more thing...I was trying to grow my natural color out and realized that my hair (I am 39) is turning grey all over.  Even at almost 40, I still do not like the look for me, lol!

Thanks Rebekah. I was actually thinking of something like that.  Glad to hear that idea is do-able. I have a few years before I will need to color. I have only found one or two strands in the past year.  By the way, I really like the color that your hair is. It always looks like it is in good condition, too. I remember seeing pics of your hair on here over a year ago, and you do a fabulous job on it. I would keep the blonde that you have done-it's great!
