I got my hair dresser to do streaks in my hair (im male) and i said i wanted more subtle than anything and blondish color. He does nearly my entire hair an almost white color and it looks terrible. I wasnt keen when i left the place and thought id check it out in my mirrors at home and then decide. It didnt help, i still hated it, and went somewhere else to get it recolored. They recolored it - used foil over the top to make darker and not as noticeable. I left the place and it looked okay (dark mirrors). I get home and its still extremely white, its not as noticeable but still bad. They really didnt do much change.
Is there anything at home I can do to darken the streaks?
I heard dishwashing liquid can help?
Anyone know any tricks? Thank you so much.

Step 1: Read Claude's sticky at the top of this forum. It will help you understand more about color, which is essential if you're going to try to fix this yourself.
Some people use dishwashing liquid to try to remove dye. You're not trying to remove dye. You've had color removed and your goal is to get color back in. Dishwashing liquid will not help you.
You should use a SEMI PERMANENT dye. From what you've described, it sounds like you want to select a light golden blonde or light warm blonde color. (Or maybe a medium golden blonde or medium warm blonde? I'm not sure of your natural color.) In either case, since your hair is "almost white" stay away from ash colors.
DO A STRAND TEST in an inconspicuous area before coloring your entire head.
Be careful if your hair has any length to it. The ends will soak up color faster than the roots, so you only want to pull the color to the ends for the last 5 minutes or so. (Again, the strand test is important to determine timing. Check the strand often.)

hey am a guy and i think i know go tp a beauty store and buy a demi-permanet color ash blonde any color that is a cool tone to get it a lil dark or a dark blonde and put it only to the streaks hope i help

Sounds like the colorist didn't tone your hair. Clairol, Born Blonde, has some nice colors your can try. Just last a few washes. If you hair is almost "white" then use a violet based toner to tone down that unfinished look.

Look,I had the same thing happen to me.(like 5 years ago) I asked for a natural looking blonde,and the guy bleached me white.I'm talking no color pigment at all. It was scary. And he charged me 300 dollars! After laboring over it a day or so,I called the salon and asked to speak with THE MANAGER OR OWNER. I got the owner and explained the situation.He said the guy who did my hair would fix it for free.I told him,NO,that he didnt listen to me the first time and I didnt want him touching my hair again. So,the owner himself toned and added lowlights to my hair. I think you should call the salon,and tell them you really arent happy,and can they please fix it.If they care about their customer service they will with no problems. But whatever you do,DONT USE THE DISHWASHING DETERGENT! That is only when trying to get a color that is too dark.You use it now and your hair will really be lighter! If you dont want to go to the salon,you could pick out a darker blond at the store and try that.Maybe stay away from ashes,as if your hair is pretty light it will turn GREEN.

Jules is right it would definitely get to ashy if white...try a neutral (always turn out good) or gold blonde, or like others have suggested some lowlights after.
