Many black women have cornrowed hair, but very few white ones. Maybe someone can tell me
more about these aspects of this style:

-can cornrowing break hair (hair extensions, for example, can). is there a "safe" way of doing it

-letsay you had cornrows for a while, then undid them, and your hair is naturally straight. Would
it come out kinky, how long would it stay that way before becoming completely straight

-what country does it come from, does anyone know why so few white women do it

-how long would it take to cornrow say, a head of shoulder length hair

-do you think it shall ever be a big fashion statement

Thanks to all

Halo due,
I had them before I loc`d my hair and I`m white. Depending on how weak the hair is when it is being braided and how tight the stylist braids the hair determines the ammount of breakage. If it feels too tight this is because IT IS TOO TIGHT. I see many girls who have hair breakage around the hair line because the corn rows were braided too tight.

When you undo them, the hair is krinkly. All you have to do is wash well and give a very good deep condition. Don`t forget to use a leave in conditioner!

When the braids are in even if you are white, you should use a very tiny amount of moisturizer every couple of days. I used olive oil. Just a small bit.

Corn rows is thought to have come from the west coast of Africa (Ghana, Benin and so on). When I visited Africa I saw the best corn rows in the west coast of Africa. I did see them in other sub-saharan African countries as well, but the west coast ladies had the best!

I don`t know why few white people have them. I wore them for quite a long time because they felt comfortable and I only unbraided them to have them rebraided, then eventually to become loc`d.

My hair is very long and I had braids which were about one cm each. This took 4 hours ... they were braided straight back from my forehead. I would imagine the same style on a person with shoulder lenght hair would take half the time.

Bo Derek tried to make it a big fashion statement in "10" . As a fashion statement now? I don`t know. Perhaps no because so many people think it is just a black people thing? Who knows.
