It sounds like you doing great things for your hair. Congratulations! ;)
I don't have any first hand experience with the use of silica but a good friend has been taking Viviscal for almost a year now and her hair has shown dramatic growth. Viviscal is a combination of vitamin C, silica compounds, and concentrated marine protein.
Karen did an article with growing tips on this site, check it out at:
I used Viviscal a few years ago when my hair was really short. It really helped for a while. Then I started taking high doses of Amino Acids and that helped even more.
I may try Viviscal again since I've given it a break. Wish I could find it at a discount! Although I did noticed it helped my skin as well so that's a good bonus.
Btw, do many posters here have waist length hair? I loved Carolyn Besett Kennedy's long locks. Hopefully soon.

I have waistlength hair. Most important thing to growing long hair is patience and tender loving care. Looks like you are well on your way. Just be patient.

I have fine-to-normal hair that's just a tiny bit past my butt. :)
I do not know of anything that can speed up your genetic growth rate potential, however, vitamins, exercise and proper nutrition will help maximize it.
I already have a fairly fast growth rate (3/4" - 1" a month), so the main thing I focus on is retaining the volume and slowing down fallout. I've been taking MSM, a multivitamin, vitamin C, calcium, and most recently started taking silica. I've found that my fallout has dramatically dropped from ~25 with the MSM alone to less than 10 with silica. I don't know how it will affect my growth rate because hair generally grows too slow to notice an effect for at least 3 months. Over the last year with the MSM, I've noticed my hair is growing in stronger, fuller, thicker (volume) and much, much softer.
Hope this helps!
My hair is almost to my knees (~50") and continues to grow longer. Rather slowly these days, but that's ok - it's still *growing*.
